Rum and Cinnamon French Toast

January has decided to bring with it some unexpected cooler weather… January is one of the HOTTEST months of the wear for those of us in Kenya. It is one of the reasons it is one of my favorite months of the year too for that same reason!! I flourish in my shorts and minis. I love how light floods into the house. I love that I do not quite need a sweater at night. I miss that kind of January and I hope February serves the heat it always has since I was born!

But whether it is sunny or rainy, one thing that is for sure is my cinnamon and rum french toast goes well with all kinds of weather, all year round. So whether you are experiencing the real winter, or a warmer January, this recipe will take you through all the year round!

Thyme Beef Burger with Passion Habanero BBQ Sauce

“Na kunanukia!!!! Zimeiva?”  (“They smell great! Are they done?”) My sister yelled form the stair case as she made her way to the kitchen where I was. I was not really in the mood for cooking because of cramps, but my sister pushed me and after some pain killers I decided to make something indulgent for both of us. Good food makes everything better right? And I had no regrets!!! Step after step after step and few moments later, there you are sinking your teeth into something juicy and delicious!!!The best burgers are those that we make at home. That is when you can customize  flavors according to your preference. Aroma of herbs filled the air. Sound of a sharp sear made me salivate.  And your next favorite burger is my thyme beef burger with my passion fruit bbq sauce <3 <3

This recipe, and all other recipes here on out, will be accompanied by short but sweet videos on my YouTube channel, so if you are yet to subscribe, do so HERE, right now, then come over and lets get into what this burger is all about <3

Iliki Hot Chocolate

I was nestled on the couch one rainy Saturday mid morning, in my very heavy, very warm, very soft orange sweater. In my hand was some hot chocolate I had just made. Not Milo. Not Drinking Chocolate. But real hot chocolate. I had opened the blinds since I wanted to watch the clouds roll in and catch the first drops fall to the earth. It then started raining. I shut the window and looked at each drop race it’s way down the glass. Do you guys sometimes just pause and watch it rain? I do! As the rain’s intensity eased, I returned to my couch grabbed my hot chocolate and slowly seeped it as I caught up on Biko’s blogs. I cried my eyes out and felt my soul shatter when I read There Were Birds But They Didn’t Sing. I laughed and reflected on the silly stereotypes we impose on our brothers and sisters as curated by our colonialists when I read Yes, You Are Tribal. And chuckled when I read Letter to My 20 Year Old Self, and also drew some valuable life lessons. What a whirlwind of emotion! That was a perfect Saturday mid morning for me, courtesy of my awesome read, my warm orange sweater, and of course, my hot chocolate fit for the gods themselves!

So let me show you how you are gonna prepare it so that you too can bask in it’s glorious flavors! <3
